I heart people.

I haven’t seen “my kids” for a whole week (they had mid-winter break) and today I realized how much I missed them.  All of this reading tutoring business reminds me of my mom.  I was overwhelmed by emotion on the walk back to campus and simply had to pause for a moment to let the tears come.  I’m am usually unaccompanied by other pedestrians on this stretch of road, but today as I was weeping, and feeling very much alone, a perfect stranger comes up to me hands me a tissue and gives me a GENUINE hug.  She’s says “I don’t know what you’re going through, but it’s going to get better.”  That is just what I needed to hear.  I told her on the street, but I want to say it again: THANK YOU <3

BrooklynQueens  → shopbklynqueens.com

Founded in August 2010 by Keira Chatman, bklynQueens grew out of a love affair with vintage clothing, retail industries, an appreciation for all things style and design-oriented, and a healthy dose of dreaming.

bklynQueens is an online vintage boutique that offers a creative and engaging shopping environment, an interactive atmosphere, and a finely curated assortment of pieces. The concept is focused on city life with a twist of whimsy and nostalgia: street style meets fairytale. Recognizing that all new trends take root from their predecessors, the boutique was created for the person who wants runway inspired pieces at affordable prices. Each piece is one of a kind and hand selected by yours truly.

Operating out of downtown Brooklyn, bklynQueens also offers personal shopping and styling appointments for those who are in the area and would prefer to visit the studio. This allows customers to interact with the merchandise first hand and experience a more personalized approach to the shopping experience. If interested, please contact us atbklynqns@gmail.com

Browse the shop, look for style inspiration, explore the blog or interact with us on Twitter and Facebook. We’d love to hear from you!

Paul (muthaf&*%in') Mooney → stuffwhitepeopledo.blogspot.com

In his book Black Is the New White, comedy legend Paul Mooney writes the following about breaking into stand-up in 1970, at Ye Little Club, “Joan Rivers’s joint in Beverly Hills.” Caution — unrestrained language ahead:
